South-facing greenhouse windows collect heat in winter.

  • Indoor Environmental Quality - Low or zero-VOC paints; non-toxic straw bales; reduced air infiltration so home is cooler in summer and warmer in winter.
  • Innovation in Design/Features - This existing house was wrapped with straw bales to increase insulation, improve aesthetics, and conserve energy.

"This home has thick voluptuous walls, regional and salvaged materials and the new second floor addition provides lots of daylight and fabulous views of the Sandias."
